Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that a meeting has been held with upstream, midstream, and downstream manufacturers such as Hisense and SMIC International, as well as nearly a hundred chip customers such as Xiaomi and Huawei, to establish the National Integrated Circuit Standardization Technical Committee (IC Standardization Committee) to accelerate the development of standards in the core field of integrated circuits (IC) in China.
The meeting pointed out that integrated circuits, as the cornerstone of modern information society, have important strategic significance in accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading, and enhancing core competitiveness. Carrying out integrated circuit standardization work is an important measure to implement the national standardization development strategy and plays an important role in promoting the high-quality development of the integrated circuit industry. Strengthening the integration of advanced integrated circuit technology and standards, and using high standards to support high-tech innovation, can help continuously optimize and improve industrial structure, and guide the healthy development of industrial ecology.
The meeting emphasized that the Integrated Circuit Standardization Committee should fully implement the National Standardization Development Outline, strengthen organizational construction, and establish and improve work systems. Accelerate the construction of an integrated circuit standard system that keeps up with the times, enhance effective communication between upstream, midstream, and downstream industries, support deep participation of enterprises in global industrial division of labor cooperation and international standard formulation, and promote the implementation and application of standards. Focusing on the urgent needs for the development of the integrated circuit industry, strengthening overall planning, strengthening the coordinated development of domestic and international standards, and creating a standardized system that covers the entire industry chain. Widely mobilize all links of the industrial chain to participate in standardization work, accelerate the formulation of standards in the core and key areas of integrated circuits, and lay a solid foundation for industrial development.
The meeting announced the list of members of the Integrated Circuit Standards Committee, reviewed and approved the articles of association of the Integrated Circuit Standards Committee, and discussed the integrated circuit standard system and annual work plan. More than 70 representatives from relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration of Market Regulation, as well as members of the Integrated Circuit Standardization Committee and the Expert Consultation Committee, attended the meeting.
The specific list of committee members has not yet been disclosed to the public. However, the list of units that were previously publicly announced in 2021 included 90 companies, including Hisense Semiconductor, Datang Semiconductor, Ziguang Tongxin Microelectronics, Zhanrui Communication, ZTE Microelectronics, SMIC International, Datang Mobile, China Mobile, China Unicom, Huawei, ZTE, China Information Technology, Tencent, Xiaomi, etc.
